On November 5, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced that 17 tourist attractions, including Zhengding Ancient City Tourist Area, Zhujiajiao Ancient Town Tourist Area, and Dunhuang Yangguan and Yumen Pass Tourist Area, are proposed to be designated as national 5A-rated tourist attractions. The public comment period runs from November 5 to 11, 2026.
The list is currently at the public announcement stage; “proposed for designation” does not mean that the designation is final. The subsequent outcome will be an important basis for determining whether the attractions concerned obtain national 5A-rated tourist attraction status.
If the attractions concerned are ultimately designated, this will further enrich the supply of high-quality domestic tourism products. For attraction operators, how to continuously improve service quality and turn attraction brands into market competitiveness remains to be seen.
