Shandong Hosts Cultural and Creative Industry Networking Event, Releases Annual Plan for Province-Wide Renewal

On October 16, 2026, news emerged that the 2026 Shandong Cultural and Creative Industries Matchmaking Event had recently been held in Jinan, alongside the opening of the first “Hospitable Shandong · Shandong Gifts” New Cultural and Creative Market. At the event, the Annual Work Plan for the Province-wide Renewal of Shandong’s Cultural and Creative Industries was released, bringing together industry matchmaking, market displays and annual work arrangements to advance province-wide renewal of the cultural and creative industries.

More than 50 organizations from all 16 cities in the province and provincial-level cultural heritage institutions took part. The event featured four themed zones, including the “Sixteen Cities Adventure Market,” and accompanying activities such as Chinese-style cultural performances. Cultural and creative resources from across the province were showcased together, creating opportunities for exchange between different regions and cultural resources, while also forging a more direct link between cultural and creative displays and cultural tourism consumption.

One noteworthy feature of the event was that industry matchmaking and a consumer-facing market took place at the same time. For exhibitors, this arrangement may help them connect with potential partners and consumers while showcasing their products. The combination of themed zones and performances may also give visitors more opportunities to encounter cultural and creative products. However, whether on-site interest leads to purchases, partnerships or subsequent channel development will still depend on product appeal, the alignment of supply and demand, and sustained follow-up after the event.

The release of the Annual Work Plan for the Province-wide Renewal of Shandong’s Cultural and Creative Industries provides another focus for observing what comes next. Based on the information currently available, Shandong is aligning the concentrated display of cultural and creative resources with its annual work plans. However, the release of the plan alone does not demonstrate the results of specific projects, nor is it sufficient to conclude that cultural and creative consumption has already grown.

Looking ahead, it will be more useful to see how the annual plan is put into practice and whether the connections made at the market develop into sustained partnerships. Relevant work arrangements, follow-up collaboration among exhibitors and consumer feedback will help show the event’s actual impact on the display of cultural and creative products, industry matchmaking and links to cultural tourism consumption.
