On October 24, 2026, the “2026 Macao-Hengqin Camping Festival,” jointly hosted by the Industry Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Macao Government Tourism Office, opened at Post No. 5 on the Hengqin Flower Sea Promenade. With the theme “Enjoy Nature, Get Out and Explore!”, the event brought together nearly 100 well-known brands and attracted nearly 10,000 residents and visitors on its opening day.

The turnout on the first day highlights the event’s appeal to residents and visitors. For participating brands, the concentrated footfall means more opportunities to reach potential consumers and provides a setting in which to gauge visitors’ interest in camping-related products and experiences. However, attendance reflects the event’s popularity; whether brands achieve tangible returns also depends on on-site engagement, conversion to purchases, and sustained interest afterward.

Jointly hosted by relevant departments in Macao and Hengqin, the event combines a camping theme with cultural and tourism activities. Its longer-term value is worth assessing in terms of whether visitors extend their itineraries: if the event encourages participants to add nearby attractions or cross-city trips to their plans, its impact could extend to related tourism spending. The nearly 10,000 attendees on the first day alone are not enough to show that such additional spending has materialized.
