Dali: The Ideal Land Between Cangshan and Erhai

In China's Yunnan, there's a small city called Dali. Unlike the bustle of Beijing or Shanghai, it's the 'most longed-for place' in many hearts.

Why visit Dali?

Cangshan and Erhai: A Scenic Wonder

The nineteen peaks of Cangshan are snow-capped year-round. Erhai isn't a sea but bluer than the ocean. Rent a bike and cycle slowly along the lakeside, with green mountains on your left and sparkling water on your right, the breeze carrying floral scents—you'll understand why so many never want to leave.

Countryside Life: Slow to the Bone

Rice fields, Bai villages, old houses, dogs sunbathing... Dali's countryside is like an oil painting. Stay in a village courtyard, wake to birdsong in the morning, and watch farmers herd cattle home at dusk. Life suddenly becomes simple.

Ancient Town: A Gathering Place for Youth and Dreamers

Renmin Road has street musicians, handicraft shops, and cafés. Foreigner Street hides 'Dali addicts' from around the world. Here, people don't ask about your past—just invite you for a drink and chat about poetry and distant places.

Bai Culture: Wind, Flowers, Snow, and Moon

· Dali is home to the Bai people

· Watch a Bai song-and-dance performance and savor the Three-Course Tea (bitter, sweet, and lingering aftertaste)

· Stroll Xizhou Ancient Town and try the crispy Xizhou baba

· Chongsheng Temple's Three Pagodas: A 1,300-year-old marvel

Dali'sClassic 3-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Ancient Town Charm and Countryside Scenery

· Morning: Arrive in Dali and check into a guesthouse near the ancient town. Explore Dali Ancient Town—enter via the South Gate, walk along Fuxing Road to Wuhua Tower, and admire the panoramic view.

· Noon: Try Bai cuisine like sour-spicy fish, braised chicken, and grilled milk fans at restaurants near Renmin Road.

· Afternoon: Visit Xizhou Ancient Town to see the 'Three Rooms and One Screen Wall' of Yan's Family Compound,

· Evening: Return to Dali Ancient Town to experience Renmin Road's street culture and bars. Grab some '菜花销魂鸡腿' at Erhai Gate for late-night snacks.

·
