The Ultimate Introduction to Western Sichuan|3-Day Small-Group Tour of Mount Siguniang + Bipenggou

Mount Siguniang (the “Queen of Sichuan’s Mountains,” a 5A-rated scenic area)

There are three valleys. Shuangqiao Valley is the top choice, with sightseeing buses throughout the area, making it easy to enjoy the snow-capped mountains, alpine lakes, redwood forests and meadows. Highlights include the Redwood Forest, Potala Peak, Siguna Lake and Ginseng Fruit Meadow;

Changping Valley is suited to light hiking or horseback riding. Explore Dead Tree Beach and the Mule Camp, face Yaomei Peak, and watch the golden glow of sunrise on the mountains;

Haizi Valley is for hiking only, with unspoiled scenery, and is ideal for mountaineering enthusiasts.

Maobangliang Viewing Platform offers the best vantage point for a distant view of the main peaks of the Four Girls Mountains.

🍂 Bipeng Valley (on the northern slopes of Mount Siguniang)

Its elevation is relatively moderate, and it brings together snow-capped mountains, lakes, colorful forests, red-stone beaches and waterfalls. Key highlights include Longwang Lake, Zhuoma Beach, Pan Yang Lake and Yanziyan Nest, where you can see the northern face of Mount Siguniang up close. In winter, you can play in the snow, and nearby Gurgou offers plateau hot springs to help ease fatigue from altitude sickness.

🛣️ Lixiao Road (a popular scenic connecting route)

Connecting Mount Siguniang Town ↔ Bipeng Valley, the route passes snow-capped mountains, meadows and colorful forests, with waterfalls and viewpoints along the way. In autumn, the forests are ablaze with color.

✅ Recommended itinerary (relaxed 3 days and 2 nights, starting and ending in Chengdu)

Best seasons to visit

• May–June: Alpine rhododendrons in bloom, with snow-capped mountains and flowers

• July–August: Escape the heat and enjoy green meadows; rainy season, with frequent showers

• Mid-October–early November: Peak season for autumn foliage (the most popular time of year)

• December–March: Winter snow, blue ice and snow activities, with pristine snowy scenery; Lixiao Road is prone to snow accumulation, so snow chains are needed

Altitude and altitude sickness precautions

• Mount Siguniang Town: approx. 3,200 m; highest point in Shuangqiao Valley: 3,840 m

• Highest point at Yanziyan Nest in Bipeng Valley: approx. 3,800 m
